Call for Papers 6th Complex Systems, Theory and Applications Workshop (CSTAW 2014)
De 21 a 24 de Julho de 2014
Call for Papers 6th Complex Systems, Theory and Applications Workshop (CSTAW 2014), Formerly Cellular Automata Theory and Applications, within the 2014 International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Processing Techniques and Applications (PDPTA'14) July 21-24, 2014, Las Vegas, USA Deadline: April 2, 2014 ********************************************************************** Dear Professionals and Research Students working in areas involving both theory and application fields of computer science, we are invit- ing you to join us for our: 6th Complex Systems, Theory and Applications Workshop within The 2014 International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Processing Tech- niques and Applications (PDPTA'14): July 21-24, 2014, Monte Carlo Re- sort, Las Vegas, USA), one of 22 conferences at WORLDCOMP'14 - 2014 World Congress in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, plied Computing.
Chairs of Session: Lou D'Alotto, York College/CUNY, New York, USA - Georgios Sirakoulis, Democritus University of Thrace, Greece - William Spataro, University of Calabria, Italy - Giuseppe A. Trunfio, University of Sassari, Italy Deadline for the full paper submission is April 2, 2014.
Official CFP Following the success of our previous Cellular Automata, Theory and Applications Workshop (which included exciting keynotes addressed from leading complex systems researchers, Prof. Dr. Peter Sloot, and by Prof. Yaroslav D. Sergeyev, father of the Infinity Computer), from this year topics of the Workshop have been extended to the more gen- eral Complex Systems theme, including both theoretical and applicative aspects of this important computer science field. Particular attention will be related to the use of High Performance Computing (HPC) to sup- port the modelling and simulation of complex systems. The main objective of this Workshop, organized within the 2014 World Congress in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Applied Com- puting (WORLDCOMP'14), is to offer scientists, researchers and engi- neers an opportunity to express and confront their views on trends, challenges, and state-of-the art in both theory and diverse applica- tion fields such as engineering, physics, chemistry, biology, geology, medicine, ecology, sociology, traffic control, economy, etc. Distinguished papers will be published in a special issue of a leading ISI/SCOPUS research journal publishing theoretical, practical, tuto- rial and survey papers on all aspects of supercomputing. For example, a Special Issue on Cellular Automata based papers was published in 2013 in Springer€™s Journal of Supercomputing (Volume 65, Issue 2, DOI 10.1007/s11227-013-0961-4). Please see other publication details below.
SCOPE: Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: - High-performance computing in complex systems modelling and simulation - MPI, OpenMP, GPGPU implementation and benchmarking of complex systems models - Cellular Automata, Genetic Algorithms, Neural networks, Swarm Intel- ligence implementations - Applications to physics, chemistry, biology, geology, engineering, medicine, ecology, economics and social science
SUBMISSION: Prospective authors are invited to submit their draft papers directly to the Workshop Chairs (see emails above). Please include €œCSTAW 2014€ in the email subject header. Submissions must be received by April 2, 2014 and they must be in either MS doc (not docx) or pdf formats (about 5 to 7 pages - single space, font size of 10 to 12). All reasonable typesetting formats are acceptable (later, the authors of ac- cepted papers will be asked to follow a particular typesetting format to prepare their papers for publication.) The length of the Camera-Ready papers (if accepted) will be limited to 7 (IEEE style) pages. Papers must not have been previously published or currently submitted for publication elsewhere. The first page of the draft paper should include: title of the paper, name, affiliation, postal address, and email address for each author. The first page should also identify the name of the Contact Author and a maximum of 5 topical keywords that would best repr esent the content of the paper. Finally, the name of the conference (CSTAW 2014) must be stated on the first page.
IMPORTANT DATES: April 2, 2014: Submission of papers (about 5 to 7 pages) April 26, 2014: Notification of decision May 12, 2014: Final papers + Copyright + Registration July 21-24, 2014: The 6th Complex Systems, Theory and Applications Workshop
CATEGORIES OF ACCEPTED PAPERS: (RRP) Regular Research Papers: 7-page IEEE-style publication in the proceedings. 20-minute formal presentation slot. (RRR) Regular Research Reports: 7-page IEEE-style publication in the proceedings. Presentation in an informal setting (during Discussion Sessions.) Typically, those authors with language difficulties prefer this mode of presentation. (SRP) Short Research Papers: 4-page IEEE-style publication in the proceedings. Presentation in an informal setting (during Discussion Sessions) and same presentation mode as RRR papers. (PST) Posters 1-page IEEE-style publication in the proceedings. Presentation in an informal setting (during Discussion Sessions).
PUBLICATION: The proceedings of the conference (which includes our 6th Complex Sys- tems, Theory and Applications Workshop) will be published in printed conference books (ISBN) and will also be made available online. The proceedings will be indexed in science citation databases that track citation frequency/data for each published paper. Science citation databases include: Inspec / IET / The Institute for Engineering & Tech- nology; The French National Center for Scientific Research, CNRS, INIST databases, PASCAL (accessable from INIST, Datastar, Dialog, EBSCO, OVID, Questel, Orbit, Qwam, and STN International) and others. The proceedings/books of PDPTA for prior years have been evaluated for inclusion into major science citation index databases. We are happy to report that the evaluation board of science citation index databases have approved the indexing, integrating, and inclusion of PDPTA proceedings into relevant indexing databases (indexing databases include, among othe rs: Scopus, www.info.scopus.com; SCI Compendex, Engineering Village, and www.ei.org).
MORE: The 6th Complex Systems, Theory and Applications Workshop, together with all other WORLDCOMP Workshops and Conferences, will be held at The Montecarlo Resort Hotel, one of Las Vegas€™ newly renovated luxurious hotels overlooking the Las Vegas Strip. This is a mega hotel with excellent conference facilities. The hotel is minutes from the Las Vegas airport with shuttles/buses to and from the airport. This hotel has many vacation and recreational attractions, including: Health Spa, swimming pools, casino, sunning decks, easy access (walking distance) to nightly shows (MGM), snack bars, a number of restaurants, shopping areas, bars, and more. Many of these attractions are open 24 hours a day and most are suitable for families and children. The hotel is within walking distance from most other Las Vegas attractions. For the benefit of our international colleagues, the state of Nevada neighbors with the states of California, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, and Arizona. Las Vegas is only a few driving hours away from other major cities, in- cluding: Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, and Grand Canyon. More information about the general PDPTA 2014 conference and WorldComp€™14 congress can be found at:
