Resumo
Smart City is one of the magic terms that is pervasively invading our world but, what is a Smart City? What makes a City Smart? Is “smartness†a synonymous of “technology†or the smartness lays on the use of the technology? This lecture discusses critically the concept of Smart City form a systems point of view, focusing the critical analysis in one of the main pillars of a city supposedly smart, the Smart Mobility. The lecture holds the thesis that a smart use of the technology has to be grounded on a sound methodological approach, and proposes the methodology of Operations Research. Discusses the role of ICT applications in the data collection process, provides an overview of the data analysis techniques, with special emphasis on Data Fusion, for the knowledge acquisition necessary to build models to understand how the urban system works, and provides a summary panoramic of the main dynamic models to assist in the decision making process supporting the city smartness.
